  1. Kia ora Craig,

This is awesome! I really liked how you thought in depth about which nations you would like to represent in your New Zealand flag. The blue cross reminds me of the Scottish flag, so in a way you are representing the Scots who are living in New Zealand. Have you thought about why you chose the swords? Do they represent something?

I am looking forward to watching your adventures through the Summer Learning Journey.

    Have an awesome day,
Megan from the Summer Learning Journey

  2. Hola Craig,
my name is Cia. I am a Summer Learning Journey blogger who will be working with you over the summer break.

About your flag, I really like how you kept various cultures found within our country in mind and included them in your design. Maybe next time you could add more information about your choice of colour and what the swords mean. I’m curious to know how you might represent our Māori people if you redesigned the flag, as they are very important to Aotearoa.

This reminds me of when New Zealand had the flag referendum and people were submitting designs for a new New Zealand flag. There were a lot of very good symbols used, for example the fern and the Kiwi. What symbol would you use in a new flag design to incorporate our Māori people?

A great start to the Summer Learning Journey Craig, I can’t wait to read more of your blogs posts this summer!

Toe feiloa’i fo’i ('See you again' in Samoan),

    Cia.
